A chromosome is a treadlike linear strand of DNA found in the nucleus of a cell that carries the genes in the transmission of hereditary information. Humans have 46 chromosomes: 22 homologous pairs and either XX (females) or XY (males). Each chromosome is vital. The alteration of chromosomes can have severe implications such as diseases or even death. This webpage is devoted to Chromosome 15 and the diseases and proteins associated with it.
